I just can't wait to get out there & start my veggie garden!  Alas, as I've learned these past two years, it's really not prudent to begin planting anything here until after the May 24 weekend.  So, I must be patient & do what I can inside for now, which consists of starting as many seedlings inside as I can.  I purchased this handy, dandy seedling tray in February and just planted it a week & a half ago with the help of Gavin of course.  I'm pleased & surprised with the moisture retention of the little soil pucks -haven't had to re-water once. 

I'm thrilled to see sprouts popping up from almost every seed that we planted.  Most especially, the sunflowers below.  Last year, I tried planting sunflowers outside with no luck at all.  I have 5 out of 6 popping up so far!  They'll look so cheerful along the back fence!

You may remember the passing of my beloved kitty, Annie last year at about this time.  Since then, I've been feeling an emptiness in the house and recently decided I was ready to find a new furry companion to join my house.  I decided that I want my furry companion to have their own companion, so was looking for two adoptable kitty friends together.  Fate stepped in, and I found these two beauties in need of a good home.  One family in need, helping another family in need.  I'm sending regular updates on their adventures & progress in settling into their new home; I know they were very loved and are very missed, but will find in us a good, happy, comfortable life.

Without further ado; meet Sam and Bill!   Sam is a female, very poofy -LOVE those ear tufts & paw tufts!  Doesn't she look beautiful with the sun backlighting her?  She's fitting in very well and has even taken to Gavin, who even woke up to her on his bed this morning! 

Bill is a timid male, who is having a little more difficult time getting comfortable here.  He mostly hides out for now, but has ventured out and about and had at least one good snuggle at my feet, and can't resist a good kitty toy expertly teasing near his paws.  We're being very patient with him, as it's not easy being a kitty in a new home.

There were bunnies galore at City Hall & the Barrie Farmers Market today - real bunnies to pet, painted up bunnies, and even a visit from the real Easter Bunny! 

Tummies were full of pancakes and chocolate eggs, and we even had a horse drawn wagon ride -all for free!

If anyone knows me, they know I love a good bargain!  If I can get rid of a few unused items at the same time, even better!

I've been out with my camera a couple of times since the beginning of March, trying to find and capture the first signs of "real" Spring.  Other than a few uninteresting remains of dirty snow banks and some way too hardy weeds growing, well, like weeds- nothing.  Finally yesterday, it all came at once:  saw my first robin, my first crocus bloomed, and yes, believe it or not, the ice cream truck came by our courtyard!
